Next Granny-Along Swap

Okay, I've thought about it, and I'll organize a second swap for Granny-Along. I figured we'll have until February 29,,2008 to join and then another month to put our packages together, so the send out deadline would be around March 31, 2008

I also would like suggestions on what to include in this swap from all of you. Just leave a comment on this post. Any other ideas - also post a comment here.

My thoughts are that of course we would include the "normal" things first of all, and that's of course yarn, and something granny-related.

I would also like to put together a questionnaire this time around, so that we get to know a bit more about our swap partners. Any suggestions of what you'd like to know? I figured this swap wouldn't be secret. Instead, I'd like to try to pair up people from different parts of the world who have similar interests.

Last time we were 8 people involved in the swap. This time, I hope we'll be more than that!

I would also like us to decide a set amount to use for the swap, so that everyone gets about the same as they send out. Wouldn't that be a good idea? I was thinking 50 USD would be good. (EXCLUDING postage) How do the rest of you feel about it. The postage will be rather steep most likely, since this would be an international swap.

Edited to add:

K and C wanted some explanations of what is expected in a swap, and I figure I'd give some basic information on how to participate.

What's expected of each swap partner is:
1) Tell me that you want to join by EMAIL (crochetalong AT gmail DOT com)
2) Send me your personal information (snail mail address. email and blog URL).
3) Fill out a questionnaire that I haven't yet put together. I will post it here once it is finished and then you email the filled out questionnaire to me, so I can match you up with a partner.
4) Collect items for your swap partner (yarn, chocolate, something you think she might need, such as knitting needles, crochet hooks, patterns or other interesting things connected to the craft). Spend money for the set amount. If you go over that's your own decision, but you shouldn't go under.
5) Make a granny square project for your friend. It's all up to you what you want to make, if you decide to make an apron, a lapghan, a CD-case, a bag or a pair of ear rings with granny squares or whatever is up to you. Any project you feel like making.
6) Mail your package by the set date (in this case March 31)
7) Wait for your package.
8) When you recieve it - brag about it on this blog!
9) Keep your swap partner a SECRET!

Since I'm new to this blog and a " swap voyeur", a little more explanation of what one is, what participants do, what is expected, etc would be helpful. Don't want to commit to something I can't do adequately, but also don't want to miss out on the fun!

50 USD including postage, or 50 USD excluding postage?

The idea sure is nice! I haven't been in a swap for years and I miss it!

That would be excluding postage, since postage is so different depending on where you are. Everyone should get about the same in their packages regardless of what the postage is.
