For Those who wish to revive the granny along
Hi in the last post I asked about what had happened to the Granny Along blog and a few people responded saying that they would like to know too and that they would be interested in joining if another was started. In the comment section I promised to make a new ´granny along´and I am in the process of doing that. I´ve started one that I called ´For the Love of Crochet Along´thinking that it would be good to broaden the concept to include all crochet project, but a granny square focus would be nice! I would like to start to add people to the list of participants but I am not sure how to do this. I noticed the invite people bit in the blog settings but don´t really know how it works. Basically I´m asking that you be patient with me and I´m sorry if things dont go so smoothly at the start. I am totally open to any information and help!!!!!!!
The address for the new blog is www.fortheloveofcrochetalong.blogspot.com please visit and start emailing me email addresses as I have a feeling I need these to add you to the authors list.
I am very much open to ideas and would like to hear what you all think and if there is anything in particular you would like to see on the blog.
Thank you so much for your support so far, and I hope the ´Granny Along II ´can be as great as the one Carola managed!

Where have all the grannies gone?
Dear fellow granny alongers, what has happened to this blog? We used to post so often and share lots of great granny square projects. I thought it was just because of the northern hemisphere summer but then that came and went and with winter I thought we would all be at it again but alas it wasn´t so... so sad. Have grannysquares lost their appeal? are we all grannied out?
I hope that this blog can get back to it´s glory days where we shared so many ideas and beautiful projects. Whilst I don´t have a granny square to share this time I will make a promise to do so in the next week and hope others will follow!
Hope to see you all back on here I miss our granny square community! If you have all left to another blog please let me know!!!!!!

New here-

But I've been lurking for a while getting inspired by everyone's work. I just finished my first granny square blanket. I used yarn from my stash and made up my "pattern" after I figured out granny square basics . I wanted it to have a folky feel and I wanted to experiment with colors. I'm happy with the results!

A baby-ghan

This is a baby blanket made for one of my co-workers. This is her first baby, a girl!
She picked out a very modern and sophisticated color scheme for her nursery and I tried to match the yarns to the color swatches that she gave me. She and her hubby don't like pink or lace or ruffles at all, so it was a challenge to me to wrap my head around this (of course, we keep telling her that she is making that baby a super uber-girly girl every time she disses pink and lace, etc., but that is another story....).
The colors are a soft, clear blue, linen white, clear, spring green, and espresso brown. Lovely colors, but they don't exactly scream, "baby girl" to me. But, that's okay. It's not my afghan!

Grannies Are Addictive!

Have you noticed how addictive it is once you start crocheting granny squares? I was only going to try a few and the next thing I know, I'm making grannies exclusively, LOL, to the dismay of my other projects, both knit and crochet. Anyhow, here's a few of the latest victims as I continue to want to crank out more all the time.
Cheers, Laura

Santa Fe Fiesta Pet Parade

Santa Fe invites the children of Santa Fe to parade through the streets with their pets during Fiesta. The parade can look pretty casual, with some paraders ambling along costume-less, casually holding their pooch’s leash as if a friend has just said, “I know. Let’s have a parade!” This is small town entertainment at its best. Click on the photos for a larger view.

Miss Priss Hats
When my 20-year-old sister was diagnosed with Leukemia and Lymphoma in April, she wanted me to make her some hats for when she lost her hair. Grannies are one of my favorite things to make, so I wanted to make a granny cloche for her. I couldn't really find a pattern I liked, so I designed my own (which I call the "Miss Priss Hat")--a granny cloche with a crocheted flower on it, made in lavender, dark purple, and white. She loved this hat so much that I went on to make eight more in various color combinations, and even made some with bows instead of flowers. Everyone that came to visit her liked the hat so much that I decided to write up the pattern and make some extra hats to sell in my etsy shop.
I'm happy to say that my sister is in full remission and will have her last in-hospital chemo treatment on Monday. You can read more about the story of the "Miss Priss Hats" on my blog here.

Afghan now where it was made for
Axel just sent me a photo of the afghan i made him. This is it in his bedroom of his Berlin appartment. This is specifically where it was made for so it's kinda cool that I get to see it there. I didn't get to go to the appartment when I was in Germany so I wasnt sure what it was going to look like. I think its ok

Granny Star to Granny Square

l blogged before that I was trying to make a hexagon but made a pentagon then it was ruffling like crazy. So I could not take it and I took it down and made a square that I know how to make. I also went back to my baby babette. Just three more to go. Next I will not save the biggest square for last.

Mile high club with a crochet twist

Just thought I would share this photo with you. I managed to get a crochet hook through customs and enjoyed crocheting a German crochet bag on my 19 hour flight from Germany to Australia. I thought they would have a problem with the hook at the security points but nope no one said anything to my delight. Unfortunately living in Australia means long flights to most places in the world so having something to do like crocheting while you sit there hour after hour is a God send.

A question for the group

I am making a Granny Star Blanket (pentagon) and it is already starting to ripple.
1. Should I take it down now for this is only forshadwing the worse to come or
2. finish it and block it? I am using cotton ease and size H hook and half double crochet stitch. Thank you. Maybe I should not make a pentagon for a baby is that an omen too?
