Infinite Cosmos: My poor babies! The shearing......#links#links#links#links#links
A gal on HippieSew yahoo group posted this on her blog. It is the first shearing experience of her alpacas and sheep. I really enjoyed reading this post as I know I dream of having my own sheep/alpaca farm.
No more romanticizing here! ha ha. She is selling the wool if anyone is interested. I have not learned spinning yet or I'd be grabbing these up for myself.

Granny (no really, Granny) Blanket
This was for my Granny Anny for Mother's Day. Only a few weeks late :) You can read more on my blog, here.
**Update**
You asked, I'll answer :) Most of the squares are single colored plain old granny squares. In the 4 corners I made 3 flower granny squares for each. I based them loosely off of block #51 from Jan Eaton's 200 Crochet Blocks. The yarn is red heart in white, pale yellow, turqua, shocking pink and spring green. I used a size g hook, but only because my mom crochets so tight, I had to use a tiny hook to make my squares match hers. If you go to my blog, you can read even more.

Another Granny Blanket...
I started another granny blanket! This one is for my teenage daughter. I am using a G hook and Red Heart yarn in colors, Black, Turquoise, Shocking Pink and the variegated yarn is called Bon Bon Print. I am using the "join as you go" method on these squares. The link for the method can be found HERE

Which Square to choose?

Here are a few squares I was thinking of making into a blanket. The blue square is called Friendship Jewel Granny Square (Kimberly Andrew). It is supposed to be 7 inches but I never use the hook size recommended I use my fav "H" so it's bigger. The cream one is Scrap Savers Hexagon Motif by Julie A. Bolduc and the last pic has a heart pattern from Bella Dia's blog and the pink is the beginning of a round
ripple I forget the website.
I would love to hear your thoughts. I hope to select one square for the entire blanket.I bought Jan Eaton's 200 blocks and was not very happy with it anyone else feel that way?

Crocheted moon landscape bag
Maybe you remember this post from November about my playing with 3D crochet. I did 24 squares and they have been lying here in a basket. Now I put them together and made a bag out of them, because I found these handles at a flea market. Put a Japanese cotton fabric in as lining.
Crocheted moon landscape
Finished bag. Approx 30 x 25 cm (12" x 10").It's based on a standard (a bit "tweaked" & changed) granny square.
Kind Regards

Granny Washcloth
It's been a while since I posted here too!
I wanted to share a washcloth I crocheted using the Victorian Lace pattern from Jan Eaton's 200 Crochet Blocks:
The washcloth is made out of Peaches'n Creme kitchen cotton and it's about 24 cm (9 inches) square. I made it to be part of a give~away I'm having on my blog to celebrate my first blogiversary (and, fellow grannyalongers, I'd love it if you came on over and participated!)
I'm really happy with how it turned out and plan on using more of the patterns in the book to make washcloths ~ the cloths make good, practical practice pieces.
Happy crocheting everyone!

More experimenting with texture & surface
It was a long time since I posted a granny project. You all have posted some super wonderful grannies lately. Thank you all for making so inspiring work!
This is an ongoing project of mine where I experiment with different yarns & textures to make new fun surfaces. This test became a little bag.
Kind regards /Inger C http://hellocraftlovers.blogspot.com/

Packages still not recieved in the Granny Swap #2
I have still a few people who have not recieved their packages so far. And I am now revealing their respective partners.
CindyBMW2004 - I may need another Angelic Intervention on this one, since Athenaisa has not sent her package off as far as I know. She's been acting a bit hostile towards me for trying to prod her into sending her package. (ETA: I recieved an email from Athenaisa where she says she has sent her package, although I don't know when.)
Edited to remove Athenaisa who recieved her package from Aim.
MaisyMae - has not responded to my queries on whether she has recieved her package from Shaena21. I'm quite sure Shaena sent hers off though. Did you get a tracking number, Shaena?
Doulanana - still has not recieved her package from MaisyMae - may need an Angelic intervention here as well.
Ohiofem44511 - hasn't yet responded to whether or not she recieved her package from Ficklefame, but she should have recieved it since it was sent of quite a while ago. Did you get a tracking number Ficklefame?
If anyone has anything to add, please feel free to do so!

What do you think of this?

I posted yesterday about needing a baby shower gift for a teacher in my school. I got wonderful comments and links to gorgeous pictures! Several people mentioned brights (which I do sometimes use for older kiddos) and I hadn't really thought about it, probably because the mom is pretty conservative.
But, I have this blanket which I originally made for my niece's Christmas for next year. My only concern is that at around 40 inches square, it may be smallish for her since she is rapidly becoming a "big girl." It is made of Lion Boucle that I got at the Dollar Tree. It's fluorescent colors. I could use it for the baby gift and make a larger one for my niece.
Is it too much? The picture isn't great, but it is lime green, hot pink, hot orange, bright purple, cobalt blue and a variegated of several of the colors. Too girly since we don't know the baby's gender?

A little advice?
A work colleague of mine is having a baby this summer and we are throwing her a shower. She doesn't want to know if the baby is a boy or a girl. So, as for a gift, I wondered about making a giant granny around 36 to 40 inches square and using all kinds of baby pastels, pink, blue, yellow, green, lavender, white, etc.
A baby blanket is so small, would using all of the colors be too busy? Could you tell me about your baby blankets and color schemes to help me decide what to do? I want it to look lovely and not too busy or thrown together, know what I mean?
Also, any advice on the best yarns to use since these things get washed often and must be super soft.
Thanks in advance! I really appreciate the input of my fellow crocheters as I learned to knit and crochet long after my babies weren't babies anymore!
Granny Swap Package

The top two pictures are my Granny swap package from Monica. Thank you ! I received 6 skeins of yarn, a Clover crochet hook (J), crochet hook case, and a crocheted necklace. The yarn are all different variegated pink and rose and pink, white and baby blue. The candy is gone because I loved it...sorry about that. But it was Werthers Original and a Biscotti milk chocolate. The final picture is of a WIP for my nephew. My brother thought the first blanket I made was girly so I opted for blue shades in this one. He thought the orange looked peachy. Men!

Kind of New?
I have been working on 2 grannys for awhile and they are both done now; just realized that while I have always checked on all your lovely work, I haven't shared any of my stuff. So here are a few photos.
This one is Starry Night from the book, 100 Afghans to Knit and Crochet, by Jean Leinhauser and Rita Weiss.
The afghan was for my sister for Christmas 2007, but since she knew about it and she is so sweet and knew that I had 8 other afghans to crochet (or knit) I knew she would be okay with waiting for a while.
This next one I just finished last night. It is a hexagon using Vanna's Choice yarn. I used the chakra colors (colors of the rainbow). Because they are muted deep toned colors it doesn't look too rainbow bright. I still need to do half hexagon motifs for the large gaps at the top and bottom, but it is done enough to show it off.
If you want more details, please visit my blog or visit me on Ravelry.
Peace!

Cute Pillow on eBay

How cute is this pillow on eBay?? OMGoodness!!
To find it on eBay search: vintage granny square pillow
Late Willow Square Maker!
Ok now I know everyone has already made their Willow bags, Willow afghans etc etc but I only just found out where to get the pattern from and after a quick Amazon.com purchase, and a few attempts at following the pattern, I have done it, I have made a Willow square! I am going to use it as part of a German crochet bag. I saw one where they incorporated the willow square and a normal granny square into the bag and I think it just looks awesome. So here is my first willow square, (mind you I had to undo one section 3 times before I got it right) and the normal granny square that will be part of the bag.

Baby Granny
My oldest friend just had a baby, and I was trying to think of just the right thing to make for her--then I decided to go old school with a baby granny afghan. I'm using Plymouth Jeannee, which I LOVE (it's soft, machine washable, inexpensive, and comes in lovely colors) and making up 4x4 inch squares--the afghan will be 48 squares:
P.S. If you're interested, please join in the baby granny swap I'm hosting on Swap-Bot. I like making these little pastel squares so much that I thought it would be fun to swap them out.

Love seeing everyone's grannies
I just want to say how much I am enjoying seeing everyone's work. I haven't grannied much lately (need to get back to that), and am getting great inspiration from all of you! Thanks for sharing your ideas. Now, I've just got to get back to that list: Granny handbag, Babette blanket, granny sweater, etc. Thanks for the inspiration!
What fun!
I received my swap package from Wykena, much to my delight. It's so nice to receive crochetwork! She made me a lapghan, a beanie hat, and a belt. There was also a crochet container, a bamboo-handled hook (I'd never used one of these before, but it's great!), a lint brush, some yarn, and did I mention the dog sweater? Everything was a perfect fit and colorwise it was all right on.Her words of encouragement made my day and it's so nice for this old lady to know that the younger generation is carrying on with the craft. Thank you Wykena!Maggie thanks you too! And when's the next swap?
Flower sunburst instructions posted
on my blog.
updated from earlier:
I managed to get the format smaller and deleted it "word by word." For document access, click on the blog title (on my blog) for the instructions to come up. Or look at the sidebar: I found another way to add it (under Granny-Along logo photo).
Hope it all works -- this is all new to me!

suggestions on posting pattern?
I hope to post the pattern this weekend for my flower sunburst granny squares -- the pattern was put together from various other patterns. I'll have to try and read my notes/scribbles and hopefully make sense of them.
Any suggestions on how to post the pattern? Make a PDF? link to something/somewhere else? (I have a blog)
I don't particularly want to do a line by line here -- it might take up a lot of room.
thanks in advance.

Sunburst flower squares
I've been following along here but just joined to be able to post.
Inspired by the photos by Chinamama and her Willow blocks, I think I've solved my dilemma of the "I can't stand all the white edges"
to adding one row of color around, so hopefully I'll keep working on these!

Another Inga Bag
Hi everyone, I wanted to share this Inga bag I just finished, it's done in grey and pink cotton yarn. The colors are actually a little brighter than what the picture portrays. I'm very pleased with it as it is one of my favorite yarns.

I got my swap package yesterday! Here are the pics of what Rima sent me:She made a felted granny basket, how cute is that?!!!
There was some neat looking cotton yarn with *shimmer* to it, and goodies (candy and teabags in the wrapped packets), and coconut soap. Can't wait to try the soap :) I also received a crochet hook holder, and a pot-warmer. Yum, I've never had some of those candy flavors before!
Thanks, Rima, you made my day :)
I posted on my own blog a sneak peak at what I sent my own swap partner...here it is
